Snap Shots

Weeeell, the Easter Bunny came to visit!  He brought Griff this sweet new red truck and Griffin is in love with it!

Here he is also showing off  his truck and adorable new Easter suit.

We took the truck out for an afternoon spin.  He can't quite figure out how to Fred Flintstone it yet so Dad helped him cruise.  Notice the cup holders in the back, complete with a jug of chocolate milk.  What more could you ask for?

Our cruise led us to the park where Lukie aligned his shockers and worked on his latest Yoga moves.  He's concentrating so hard his little tongue popped right out!  He's got some serious core muscles.

Luke didn't get the luxury of riding in the new red truck so he was happy to roll in the stroller.

So, on to some random snippity snaps of the South boys.

Lately with the nicer weather we have been taking lots of walks in the morning.  How cute are these boys in their hats?

So what if Griffin was still in his reindeer Jammies?  Big deal.  He really hates wearing normal clothes and begs to put his jammies back on each morning after I change his diaper. 

And here is Luke again, working it!

No real caption for this photo.  I just got a new iPhone and I love being able to take pictures of the boys so quickly all the time.  I have loved capturing the everyday moments like this!

Oh Boy...

Griffin's Latest:  Most days I can find Griff hiding either in the corner or behind the couch.  When I ask him what he's doing he says, "I'm hidin' and poopin."  So I say, "ok, are you done?  Can I change your diaper?"  To which he replies, "Nope, still workin' on it."

Luke's Latest:  He has his two lower teeth.

He went from doing the plank to pulling himself up on everything!

His newest trick is that he loves to clap.  I taught him how and he perfected it pretty quickly.  Now when I try to teach him something new (waving, lifting his hands above his head) he claps.  And claps.  And claps.  So at least he's got that down.

He's STILL not sleeping through the night. For real. Boo.  He is dog tired by 7:00 p.m. so I put him to bed and he goes anywhere from 8-10 hours and wakes up.  So that sounds pretty good except that 8 hours puts us up at 3 and then he's up and awake for the day at 5:45.  Somethings gotta change, soon. 

Other than that, Life is pretty freaking wonderful!

Mad Marchness

So apparently I've been so busy enjoying my new family room that I haven't taken the time to blog! Haha! Oh, how I wish that were true. Nevertheless, here be an update on the South house!

My dear friend Renee came to visit us and brought us some Easter Grass. We had so much fun watering it, petting it (as you can see below) watching it grow and giving it haircuts!

Luke was introduced to grass also... This kind is not soft and still dead from the winter. This was his first encounter. Although this picture makes it look like he is enjoying himself, he is much happier on a blanket on top of the grass. He crawls from one side of the blanket and as soon as he gets to the grass he turns around and crawls back. He always stays on the blanket and just does circles.

Luke army crawls like a mad man. He is super fast and goes straight for the dog food every time we put him down.

Griff still doesn't eat, but somehow I got him to eat a little bit of this muffin after he helped me stir them up.

We gave the boys their first bath together. This was a little scary for Luke and for me. But they both made it out alive and clean! Yay!




Marc and I went away for the first time leaving our boys with Cortney for TWO Whole Nights! A grand time was had by all. We went up Ogden Canyon and stayed at Wolf Creek. It was lovely. We enjoyed a morning jog (well, I enjoyed it, Marc got into some cockle burrs when he was off in the bushes, which was not so enjoyable) sitting in the hot tub, eating at unique & yummy restaurants, taking a nap, and seeing the Hunger Games.

We also visited a Monastery in Huntsville and got to hear the Monks chant. It was pretty awesome. We just went there for something to do. It was cool. I don't know why but I was surprised that they chanted in English. I mean, it makes sense, we are in Utah. I just thought it would be jibberish or something (I'm obviously ignorant when it comes to Monks and chanting.) They were chanting prayers and they were beautiful.







Since we didn't take any other pictures of our weekend, we pulled off the side of the road and took a picture of this waterfall.

Oh, and I chopped my hair off this month. Apparently turning 30 wigged me all out and so I cut my hair because I wanted to look way older than I am. That's what I feel like this haircut has done for me anyway. Those crows feet around my eyes aren't helping me out either.

Oh, and the boys had a blast at Cort's. They played outside, went for a walk, Luke ate some dirt, Luke barfed up some dirt, yada yada, and they didn't even miss us!

My mom treated my sisters and I to Xanadu at the Hale Center Theatre. It was HILARIOUS! If you have seen the movie, it is terrible! Seriously, bad! But great to make fun of, which is what they did in this musical. My mom, sisters and I laughed until we cried (and maybe peed a little) it was that funny! I highly recommend it! I watched the movie on Netflix a few weeks before just to refresh my memory. So if you've seen Xanadu or you love the 80's or you love Olivia Newton John, or you love leg warmers and roller skates, or you love Greek Mythology, or you love boys in super short shorts go watch the movie and then go see the play. You won't regret it!

Battlecreek Falls

We wanted to get out and enjoy some beautiful spring weather so we loaded the boys up in the packs and hiked up to Battlecreek Falls in Pleasant Grove.

It was a beautiful night and we had a great time!

Extreme Makeover-- Lindsey Edition

Once upon a time, there was a sad, boring and blah room.... (ok, most of the rooms in my house fall into this category.)

Exhibit A:

So, I decided that it would be fun to paint some stripes on the walls to liven things up a bit. Here is my dear husband helping tape everything off. We got started at about 9:30 p.m.

So we taped (which I think we finished around 12:30 a.m.) and since I'm crazy I stayed up to get the first coat of paint of paint on. I mean hey, if the boys are asleep, I gotta make the most of my time, right? So I think I finally made it to bed around 2:00 a.m.

Well, what was supposed to just be paint on the walls, ended up being a complete overhaul of the entire family room that would consume my every thought over the next couple of months. This led to many, many more late nights of work. But voila! Finally I am DONE! (for the most part)

See, those beautiful chairs above? It was love at first sight. I found them after I had painted the stripes on the walls. I had no idea how I was going to tie the two colors together, but I knew that I needed to own those chairs! So I just took off on my re-decorating adventure and I love the finished product!

So here we have some cheapy frames that I picked up from Walmart/ Hobby Lobby/ JoAnn. I just painted and glazed them to the colors I needed. I already had the clock.

These little beauties were given to us by Mark Bishop. I gave them several different paint jobs and ended up settling with boring old "divine white." I am still trying to find new hardware for them, but you can see a little peak of one in the picture above.

I got the paper mache "S" at JoAnn and wrapped it in Jute to give it some added texture. And, oh my, what darling boys I have!

Marc did all the manly stuff like building and installing a mount for his new tv, putting in surround sound, wiring everything through the cabinet, down to the crawl space, and out to the garage and getting all of the different devices hooked up so that they all work! He also installed two can lights above the sofa which I LOVE! So glad that he knows how to do all that handy stuff! What a stud! Check out the scary mess that my house was during the process of this project!

One of my favorite transformations were the bump-outs around the fireplace. They have driven me crazy ever since we moved in because I never knew what to put in them and I felt like no matter what I did, they looked like they were filled with knick knacky crap! I wanted to add bigger things to feel the space, texture and color. I ended up deciding to wallpaper a piece of masonite with paper that looks like old aluminum ceiling tiles. I love the texture and the wallpaper was WAY cheaper than buying actual tiles.

Then I just painted it with a metallic paint and, boo-yah!

This little beauty of an ottoman got a makeover too!

I really don't like reupholstering because it scares me and I'm no good at it, however, it is much cheaper than purchasing new furniture, so I gave it a try.

It sits nicely in the corner and we just pull it over in front of the chair when we need it. In fact I am sitting in the chair with my feet up on said ottoman as I type this!

Now, since I have absolutely no design background and I don't really know the difference between contemporary, traditional, modern, etc, I just went with what I like. This little bump out got a little touch of vintage. I found the vintage umbrella at a consignment store. I love the wooden handle. I found the old train cases at an antique store and the vintage polaroid camera belonged to my grandparents.

I made the little luggage tag. No matter how hard I try to not do crafty crap, I always end up sneaking it in. I guess it's part of my style?

I knew that we could not afford new sofa's, but I wanted to update what we had so I just made new pillows for them. The best part is that they are removable pillow covers that I can take off and throw in the wash. Boy friendly! Yay!

So, I also made new draperies for the window. I made them out of burlap because I love the texture, color and price ($2.40/ yard thank you very much). Well, just in case you were wondering the lady who cuts fabric at Hobby Lobby thinks that burlap for draperies is a BAD IDEA and she will try to talk you out of it for approximately 30 minutes after the store closes. She will tell you how burlap will shed and your children can ingest it and it will be bad for them. She will show you many other options that she thinks that you should use which are three or four times more expensive. But, in the end you should just go with the burlap because you will LOVE it!

The table belonged to Heath and Steph. It has been outside on their patio for a long time and has been pretty beat up. This made it perfect for us (since Griff likes to beat up on whatever he can find, and Luke is following quickly in his footsteps). So we chopped the legs off and BAM- coffee table/foot rest/ race track for many a cars! Our sofa, chair and ottoman also belonged to Heath and Steph once upon a time. We have been the lucky recipients of lots of their gently used items! Donka!

Thank you Heath for helping me make major decisions for this room and teaching me about the "smell test" at the antique store. Thank you for spending 10 hours running around with me on your day off! Thank you for donating the table.

So, not too bad for a room done on the cheap, eh? P.S. I made 21 pillows and bought 5 for this project. Yeah, I like pillows, I guess.
